So close

After 5 weeks on the South Beach Diet, I'm down to 231 pounds.  An overall loss of 30 pounds.  I didn't quit make it to my goal of 230, but it was very close.  I weigh less than I have for 2 years and I'm close to halfway of my overall goal of 200 pounds or less.  Not a bad start.  I definitely feel that I can make it.

So we went down to San Antonio this morning to visit the BCIS (formerly INS).  We submitted Ann's paperwork for permanent residence a year ago, we still haven't heard anything and the stamp in her passport was about to expire.  We got there and they told us they no longer accept walk-ins, we had to go online and make an appointment.  So we drove around for a while until we found a kinko's and used their computer service to make an appointment.  We then drove back for our 9:30 timeslot and finally got called up at 10:30.  WTF.  Why do we need to make an appointment if they aren't even going to follow them.  Anyway, the man finally politely explained to us the screwups that have been going on for years on our paperwork as he looked through the various stamps in her passport.  He also couldn't find her status in the system, but said that's normal.  We should wait 3 or 4 months and if we still haven't heard anything, drive back down to San Antonio.  He extended her status for another year with a new stamp in her passport and that was it.  I think he was just trying to get rid of us because it's totally screwed up.  The online processing dates were at August 2004 for a long time, then jumped to December, and are now June 2005.  I think they round filed (trashed) a bunch of them, including ours, just so they could say they were caught up.  They've been known to do that before and it woul dfollow our lucky :) history with them.  So we'll wait until Thanksgiving and drive down there again.  If we still haven't heard anything then it may be time to get our state representative involved.  We'll see.

The house is now ready for the baby.  We spent the weekend cleaning and even rented a carpet shampooer.  I didn't realize how much dirt was in our carpets, but they do look a lot cleaner now.  My mom gets here in a few hours.  Hopefully the baby will be here soon after.
